4 nights in mountain village near Lake Garda

Saturday, Sept 23

Pick up at Verona-Villafranca international airport at an hour to be established once everyone’s flight schedules are in. We recommend you book a flight that lands in the early afternoon (2pm – 4pm) as there will only be one transfer to hotel therefore if you remain within our suggested time slot you can avoid having to wait at the airport for a long time if you arrive too early or having to reach hotel by your own means if you arrive too late. Check in and freshen up. Orientation walk around town. Early welcome dinner (for Italian standards) to allow guests to recover from day of travelling.

Sunday, Sept 24

After breakfast go on 1st foray in the woodlands in Monte Baldo (2130m), a hulking, massive limestone ridge that stretches 40km between Lake Garda and the Adige valley. Enjoy hearty lunch in a local trattoria. If the weather permits take a cable car ride to the very summit of Monte Baldo for a spectacular view. Dinner oyo.

Monday, Sept 25

After breakfast go on 2nd foray in the natural regional park of Lessinia, a wide highland covered with woods and pastures. Have lunch in one of the local restaurants. In the afternoon we will take advantage of being in one of the world's most famous wine regions (Amarone, Valpolicella, Bardolino) to go wine tasting at a local winery. Dinner oyo.

Tuesday, Sept 26

After breakfast spend the full day exploring Lake Garda. Take a boat ride on the lake and visit the extremely pretty town of Sirmione with its lovely castle surrounded by Garda's emerald waters and its picturesque, 1st century AD Roman villa. Take a walk on Desenzano's broad lakeside promenade and perhaps sip aperitifs and people watch at one of the town's vibrant piazzas. Have lunch in town on the lake we will be visiting. Return to venue before dinner. Either lunch or dinner oyo.

Padua's inviting squares are perfect for lingering over an aperitivo. Visit the 13th century Basilica of St Anthony, an impressive Romanesque/Gothic church with Byzantine-style domes and the glorious Scrovegni Chapel with Giotto's beautifully preserved early-14th century fresco cycle.
